What is it?
When enabling duplication, there is an option to have duplicates validated using CRC (cyclic redundancy check). This option checks the physical contents of the duplicate file against the primary file to ensure they are identical.
Should I be using it?
The short answer here is no. Basically, the underlying hard drives will ensure that all files are as they should be, and Drive Bender can use certain file attributes to determine if the primary and duplicate files are identical. The option also adds additional system load for no real gain. The reason this option exists is from the original development and was used to ensure our code was doing as it should, and not to monitor file corruption which may be induced by a hardware issue.
Why is it still available?
There was a number of betas released sometime ago (in the v1 era) that has this optioned removed, however we received a number of complaints so decided to reinstate the option for the time being.
Will the option be removed?
The underlying validation code will be changed in coming versions, so it is likely to be removed at this point.
