How can I check the drives in a pool?

There may be times when you need to check one or more drives in a pool physically. To do so, map a drive letter to the drive(s) you wish to check (to map a drive letter, see - http://support.drivebender.com/entries/23179757-How-do-I-map-a-drive-letter-to-one-of-the-drive-in-the-pool-).

Once mapped, open a command line prompt, and log onto each drive (i.e. "x:") and chkdsk. For a simple scan, use "chkdsk /F", which performs a scan of the drives and will fix most NTFS structural issues.  If you are experiencing more serious file system problems, we recommend running a sector scan using "chkdsk /R".

Note - The Drive Bender internal check disk option can fail to run on some drives, this appears to be related to the volume being locked by the OS. As a result, we recommend manually checking the drive(s) as described. We are attempting to rectify this for v2.

Note 2 - The Windows chkdsk option (and the Drive Bender version) only check NTFS and drive surface issues. The checks may not expose low-level drive issues.
