Drive Bender creates logs of all its operations, these can help support troubleshoot any issue a user may have. The level of detail in the logs is controlled by the log level option. This option can be found in settings, under the performance tab.
The following levels are available:
- None: Very little information is sent to the logs, this is the default setting and is the setting you should be used during normal operation.
- Medium: This is the setting best used for support purposes. It gives a good level of detail without a major performance hit.
- Debug: Using this setting produces very verbose logs that fill very quickly. At this level, there can be an impact on performance and the logs roll over very quickly (all logs came be overwritten in less than an hour on a busy system). This level should only be used if requested by support.
Open the options (either in the DB Manager or the WHS addin) and change the logging Option to "Medium" or "Debug" and then reproduce the issue... this is obviously very important. If the issue is specific to a file and/or folder, you can search for these in the logs (Ctrl + F).
Viewing logs (pre v2.4)
The Drive Bender logs are located in the Drive Bender folder "C:\Program Files\Division-M\Drive Bender" (note on x64 machines this is NOT "Programs File (x86)"). The file names are "db-StartupLog.sil" (v1.3 and above) and "db-xxxx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.sil" (where all the xx's are the date). You can view the logs using the application "SmartInspectConsole.exe" located in core Drive Bender folder (C:\Program Files\Division-M\Drive Bender). The easiest way to view the logs is to dray the log file onto the SmartInspect application.
