What is SnapRAID mode, and how does it work?

SnapRAID is a great way to provide file redundancy on multiple disk systems or pooled drives. Drive Bender and SnapRAID work well together, and if you do run SnapRAID alongside Drive Bender... there are a number of features and internal tasks that must be disabled for SnapRAID to work effectively.

• File balancing is disable, however, files are still placed on the pool as per the selected balancing mode.
• During a file system health check, we are no longer checking that a primary file has an opposing duplicate file and vice versa. The reason being is that it is assumed duplication is not being used when SnapRAID is being used (although is is still possible to enable duplicate when in SnapRAID mode, this is likely to change in coming versions).

With Drive Bender v2.5, we introduced a new SnapRAID mode. When SnapRAID mode is enabled, the features and tasks mentioned previously, are automatically managed.

Note - This setting is system wide due to the fact that the balancing setting is system wide (not pool specific).
