Issue - This fails because the backup operation is using a Windows feature currently not supported by a Drive Bender drive letter mount (Volume Snapshot Service, or "VSS" for short).
Workaround - Perform the backup on the individual drives that make up the pool (not the Drive Bender drive). If you want to backup specific folders only, you can drill down the folders on the drive and select the specific folders (you need to do this for each drive in the pool). Each drive that makes up the pool has a specific structure, this is basically "{12345-12345-... } / my data". The first folder (a GUID) represents the mount point for the specific pool this drive is attached to (see this article for more information about the drive structures).
Although we are working on VSS support, we are recommending this method of drive backup regardless. For performance reasons backing up the individual pooled drives directly offers better backup and system performance.
Expected Fix - While we still believe this to be technically possible, the work required vs the benefit gained leaves the future of further development of this feature uncertain.
